Not quite enough...

I went to Costa Rica about a month ago for vacation. I could write about 10 blogs about that experience itself, but frankly I don't feel like it right now. :)

This blog is about the NEED for those excusions. When I came back from Costa Rica, I truely felt refreshed and rejuvenated. I was relaxed at work and most of it didn't follow me home or keep me up at night.

Well this week just shot all that to H***. I NEED A VACATION. Now what is it about the American culture that makes us

Wheel of the World

The Wheel of the World. Carrie Underwood wrote a great song about that.

Everyone knows the world is an ever-turning, ever-changing wheel...but I don't think we really understand it's power until we choose to, and that choice arrives when the necessity arrives.

My real-world & fantasy/college world overlapped for about 2 years. It was strange sometimes, to think like a business professional then come home to homework, exams, and just plain nonsense with my college friends. The mindsets are very different. By being in the real world, I've learned that the Wheel of Life will continue to rotate whether we want it to or not. The wheel doesn't care if you are tired, fed up, over-worked, or unhappy. It's an intangible force that will forever be moving forward...until God Himself puts up a hand to stop it. (That's what I believe.)

I've always been the type of person who is social and involved in many things. I also love my job. I'm very invested in it. That is good for the company, I understand that. And it's also good to love your job, because I have more passion behind my work. However, because of all those things, I have a harder time learning to adhere to the red light. It's time to slow down, and then stop. Take a look around and don't do anything. That is not easy for me to do.

But I'm learning that, although there are many things in life that we have no control over, there are many things that we do have control over. Learning the differences between those are facts I learn each and every day. We need to take advantage of things in life that we do have control over --- such as taking a day off , for yourself. The world, especially the business world, will not stop for a day so you can easily take a day off. Your responsibilities will not magically diminish the same day you desperately need a day to recuperate. It is your responsibility to take your hands off the handlebars and put down the kickstand. No one else is riding that bike but you. It's all about focus and understanding what YOU need in your life to take care of yourself and satisfy your heart.

So I am off to bed. The sleeping portion of the Wheel of the World is amazing because it's on a memory foam mattress! woop!!

Sweet dreams --- here's to realizing our worth and what we can do to maintain it.
